Homophobia in the Caribbean to be Explored at Symposium at NSU
A symposium exploring homophobia in the Caribbean will be held at NSU from April 8-10. The three-day symposium, featuring presentations, speakers and debates, will be held on NSU’s main campus in the HPD’s Assembly Building at 3200 South University Drive. The event is free and open to the public.

A special prosecutor in the case against John Demjanjuk, who is accused of being a guard at a Nazi concentration camp in Germany during World War II, will speak at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) on Sept. 24.
Cornelius Nestler is representing survivors and family members of those killed at the Sobibor death camp in the case that has charged Demjanjuk as an accessory to the murder of 27,900 people.
Florida Senate President Jeff Atwater encourages NSU health profession graduates to excel
Florida Senate President Jeff Atwater (R-North Palm Beach) encouraged Nova Southeastern University Health Professions Division graduates to excel during his commencement speech on Sunday, Aug. 30.
The graduates, who were from NSU’s College of Allied Health and Nursing, earned degrees in health programs such as nursing, physician assistant, anesthesiologist assistant, vascular sonography, audiology, occupational therapy and online health sciences. A total of 639 graduates had their degrees conferred.
U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Weston) urged Congress to pass healthcare legislation that ensures all Americans will receive health coverage. Wasserman Schultz’ remarks came during her Nova Southeastern University commencement address on Sunday.

Nova Southeastern University to host National Immunization Conference
Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) College of Osteopathic Medicine will host a national conference on immunization on Jan. 30 and 31.
Titled “Protecting Our Next Generation, Ages 0-3,” the conference will feature nationally recognized authorities discussing the importance of vaccinating children to prevent treatable infections. The conference will also be discussing drowning prevention for toddlers, new strategies to prevent respiratory syncytial virus and training techniques to recognize and diagnose autism spectrum disorders in children.
Fred Lippman, R.Ph., Ed.D., Chancellor of Nova Southeastern University’s Health Professions Division, has been elected to serve as the chairman of Palmetto General Hospital’s Board of Governors. He will serve his one-year term in 2009.
