Patient Safety Educational Forum, Apr. 8 & 9

The 3rd Annual HPD Patient Safety Educational Forum, “Healthy Conversations for Safer Healthcare” will take place Apr. 8 and 9 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the private dining room area of the HPD Café. It will be repeated on Apr. 16 at NSU’s North Miami Beach campus between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at conference room B.

The event is free for NSU employees and students. This is an opportunity to receive information and understand various initiatives to decrease risk to patients in healthcare settings. Come learn about many different facets of patient safety including, but not limited to:

  • medication safety, minimizing acetaminophen (Tylenol) toxicity, over the counter medications and pregnancy, prescription bloopers
  • strategies to decrease health care acquired infections, learn what’s hiding on your hands
  • how to disclose to patients and families when care has not been provided as planned or the unexpected occurs
  • team STEPPS, which is a formal program that teaches strategies and tools to enhance performance and patient safety
  • confidentiality and managing the hidden risks
  • body mechanics
  • sitting pretty and sitting right.
