Nova Southeastern University Students Host President Health Care Forum

Nova Southeastern University students will host a presidential health policy forum on Thursday, Oct. 16 featuring supporters of Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain.


Nova Southeastern University Students to Aid Hurricane Victims in Haiti

Nova Southeastern University students have started a relief effort to raise money and collect food for Haitians who have been devastated by recent hurricanes and tropical storms.

Students from the university’s Health Professions Division began the humanitarian work last week by collecting nonperishable food, clothes, water, bedding and other supplies. NSU’s College of Pharmacy students also began selling stickers for $5 apiece this week to raise money for the people of Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.


Nova Southeastern University to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with “Sabor de NSU”

Nova Southeastern University will recognize Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15) by celebrating and learning about the Latin culture through a series of events titled Sabor de NSU.

Below is a listing of events during Sabor de NSU, which translates to Flavor of NSU. All events are free and open to the public and will be held on NSU’s main campus (3301 College Ave.).


Congressman Ron Klein to deliver keynote address at NSU’s Health Professions Division Commencement

U.S. Rep. Ron Klein, D-Boca Raton, will be speaking at Nova Southeastern University’s Health Professions Division’s commencement on Sunday, Aug. 24.

The 2 p.m. ceremony will take place at NSU’s University Center Arena. Among the 494 graduates participating in the event will be 29 graduates from Florida’s first anesthesiologist assistant program located at NSU. This is the fifth program of its type in the U.S.


Florida Department of Health Secretary Ana Viamonte Ros to speak at Nova Southeastern University’s Health Professions Division Commencement

Florida Department of Health Secretary Ana M. Viamonte Ros, M.D., M.P.H., will serve as commencement speaker at NSU’s Health Professions Division’s graduation on Sunday, May 25.


Nova Southeastern University to offer Free Health Screenings

Nova Southeastern University will offer free health screenings for children and adults on Saturday, April 19.

The NSU Health Fair for Children & Adults, sponsored by NSU’s Health Professions Division and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, will offer vision, dental, blood pressure and diabetes (glucose) screenings.


Nova Southeastern University to hold Research Day

Nova Southeastern University will host a research day on Friday, April 25 to showcase its health, medical and biotechnology research. NSU’s Health Professions Division (HPD) will host the inaugural Research Day between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Signature Grand.


Lydia M. Acosta Appointed as Vice President for Information Services and University Librarian of NSU

Lydia M. Acosta will join Nova Southeastern University (NSU) as Vice President for Information Services and University Librarian on July 1st, 2008. The appointment was announced by NSU President Ray Ferrero, Jr., J.D., last week.


Educational Research Symposium to be held at Nova Southeastern University

Nova Southeastern University’s Health Profession’s Division will be holding its 2nd annual Health Professional Educational Research Symposium this weekend.

The conference, which will run from Jan. 18 to 20, will engage health care faculty from around the country in a discussion about educational research and teaching in the health professions. It will be held at NSU’s Health Professions Divisions (HPD), which consists of six colleges —- osteopathic medicine, optometry, dental medicine, medical sciences, pharmacy and allied health and nursing.
