The Fischler School of Education and Human Services of Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will hand out more than $15,000 in scholarships to the winners of the annual Miami HEAT / Fischler School of NSU essay contest, which runs now until Wednesday, March 25.
To enter the 2009 contest, submit a 250-word or fewer essay on the theme: “Tell us why you or someone you know would cause an effect and change the world with a college degree.”

At age 18 the state support system ended almost as suddenly as it began for Mimi. Having been in the system for less than six months, she no longer qualified for any state assistance.
Educational Research Symposium to be held at Nova Southeastern University
Nova Southeastern University’s Health Profession’s Division will be holding its 2nd annual Health Professional Educational Research Symposium this weekend.
The conference, which will run from Jan. 18 to 20, will engage health care faculty from around the country in a discussion about educational research and teaching in the health professions. It will be held at NSU’s Health Professions Divisions (HPD), which consists of six colleges —- osteopathic medicine, optometry, dental medicine, medical sciences, pharmacy and allied health and nursing.
Governor Appoints NSU Dean of Diversity To State Minority Teachers Board
Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is proud to announce the appointment of Delores M. Smiley, Ed.D, to the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers (FFMT) Board of Directors.
Smiley, who serves as Dean of Community Education and Diversity Affairs at NSU’s Fischler of Education and Human Services, has been appointed to the board for a three-year term by Florida Governor Charlie Crist.
