Fischler Student Named Sarasota County’s Teacher of the Year
Sarasota County’s 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year is NSU’s very own Charles Evans, a Fischler School of Education and Human Services alumnus and current online student pursing a specialist in educational leadership degree.
Evans, M.S 2003, received the highest honors for Sarasota County teachers on April 1. He is a national board certified teacher, AYA Science/Physics, Science Department chairman of Riverview High School and director of percussion/assistant marching band director.
Evans credited NSU’s programs as being “challenging, enlightening, and useful to me in every aspect of my job as a teacher and an aspiring administrator. The professors at NSU are extremely knowledgeable, outstanding educators who genuinely care about the quality of education that their students receive.”
The Fischler School of Education and Human Services was a sponsor of the event, which awarded Evans a total of $2,500 in scholarship monies for his accomplishments. NSU-Tampa Assistant Directors Bill Lance, Tony Thompson and Les Ross along with Enrollment Coordinator Ashley Owens were all in attendance at the awards luncheon to honor Evans.
