Celebrate the Arts with FREE Events Throughout the 2011-2012 Season at Nova’s Alvin Sherman Library

FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University’s (Nova) Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center will celebrate the arts this fall with numerous FREE events that are open to the public.

Highlights include the Alvin Sherman Library’s 10th Anniversary “birthday celebration;” vibrant exhibitions featuring prominent Americans Benjamin Franklin and Emma Lazarus; the Cine Argentino Film Festival with actress Adriana Bianco; a Culture Vulture Sunday Happenings series; the annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration and much more.

Special Olympics Aims to Raise $5 Million for Athletes by 2012 through Sallarulo’s Race for Champions

For the past six years, the South Florida community has rallied to support local Special Olympics athletes by participating in the annual Sallarulo’s Race for Champions 5K Run/Walk – raising more than $3.17 million in much-needed funds for the athletes to date. Now, Special Olympics Broward County (SOBC), is aiming to reach a total of $5 million raised by the next race scheduled for Nov. 10, 2012.

New Expanded Curriculum at AutoNation Academy of Art and Design

Fort Lauderdale, FL – August 11, 2011 – AutoNation Academy of Art and Design (formerly the Studio School) at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, announces open registration now through September 14 for adults as well as for students in grades 1 through 12. Curriculum-based studio art classes begin the week of September 19 and meet for a 3-hour class once per week during the 10-week session.
