Register for Health Professions Educational Research Symposium
The NSU Health Professions Division’s (HPD) Institute for Educational Research, under the leadership of Fred Lippman, R.Ph., Ed.D., chancellor, created the Health Professions Educational Research Symposium (HPERS) in 2007 to encourage, support, and disseminate research related to the scholarship of teaching and learning. The 2015 HPERS conference theme is “Leadership in Higher Education: Training our Students, Training Ourselves” and will be heldon Saturday, Jan. 24 at 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the Terry Building (HPD) at NSU’s Davie campus. Members of the entire NSU community and the public are invited to attend.
The keynote speaker is Lynn Gangone, Ed.D., dean of the Colorado Women’s College at University of Denver, whose presentation is titled “Lessons in leadership: Navigating change in turbulent times.” The closing presenter is Sandee Dunbar, D.P.A., OTR/L, assistant dean of professional development and education at NSU’s College of Health Care Sciences, on the topic of “The responsibility of academic leadership: Creating a leadership narrative.” In addition to these dynamic speakers, HPERS features 14 podium presentations and five poster presentations on topics ranging from “Instructional technology: Are you an E-Leader?” to “Human patient simulation: Student leadership achieved through mentoring and modeling in health care education by teamwork.”
