NSU Students Go Without Shoes to Raise Awareness for Children in Developing Countries
NSU’s Alpha Phi Omega fraternity and groups from SISTUHS Inc., recently hosted their second annual “One Day Without shoes” event, which brought out dozens of participants to walk through the Don Taft University Center without footwear to experience first-hand what it can feel like to lack such basic necessities.
The event was designed to make students more aware of the plight of children in developing countries who walk barefoot every day, regardless of terrain. More than 40 NSU students participated by walking along a guided path of footprints in the UC. Participants also received a $5 voucher with a coupon code for a pair of TOMS shoes. The nonprofit donates a pair of shoes to needy children with every pair purchased.
