NSU Speaker’s Forum Hosted by Dr. Larry A. Calderon, Feb. 11
Raymond Ownby, M.B.A., M.D., Ph.D., professor and chair of the NSU College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine; and Amarilis Acevedo, Ph.D., a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist who joined the faculty of NSU’s Center for Psychological Studies in 2009 as a visiting professor; will be the featured speakers at the NSU Speaker’s Forum on Feb. 11. They will discuss health literacy in the English and Spanish Speaking Adults Grant.
Prior to joining the NSU medical faculty, Ownby was a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine, where he directed the Memory Disorder Programs in Center on Aging. He is a graduate of the Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy.
Acevedo previously served as the associate director of neuropsychology of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine. She completed her Ph.D. in physiological psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles.
The weekly NSU Speaker’s Forum, hosted by Calderon, takes place each Friday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The audience is treated to a delicious hot breakfast and an opportunity to learn about the fascinating people that make NSU a great university. The Speaker’s Forum will be held at the Horvitz Administration Building in the President’s Board Room, which is located on the second floor of the building.
