Due to a larger than expected response to its offer of 100 percent tuition awards to 30 incoming students that qualify for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship, Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is now extending the scholarship beyond the original 30 scholarships. NSU is the only independent, not-for-profit university in Florida offering the 100 percent scholarship to Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholars (BFFAS).

The Honorable Bruce Golding, M.P., the prime minister of Jamaica, will hold a town hall meeting at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) on March 28. The Caribbean Law Programs of NSU’s Shepard Broad Law Center is hosting the visit to allow the prime minister to interact with the broader Jamaican community.
Nova Southeastern University to Hold Campus-Wide Open House
Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will hold a campus-wide open house for prospective students on April 11 and 12. The open house will be held in the University Center located on NSU’s main campus (3301 College Ave. in Davie). Whether preparing to start college as first-time freshmen or seeking to advance their careers with a graduate degree, prospective students will have an opportunity to meet faculty, staff, alumni and current students and get information on the many bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs offered at NSU’s main campus and various locations throughout the United States and Caribbean.

Nova Southeastern University’s Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will host an evening with Kerry Kennedy, Thursday, April 17, from 7:00–8:30 p.m. Kennedy, a leading advocate for human rights around the world and daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy, will lecture on “Speak Truth to Power,” as part of the college’s Distinguished Speakers Series.
Colloquium at NSU to Explore Conflicts in Democratic Republic of the Congo and Somalia
Survivors and refugees from the conflicts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Somalia will be among the speakers examining the crises in those two countries at a public forum at Nova Southeastern University (NSU).
The colloquium, titled “Global Crisis in the 21st Century: A Comparison of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Somalia,” will be held on March 28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Knight Auditorium in the Carl DeSantis Building on NSU’s main campus (3301 College Ave.). The event is free and open to the public.
The Nova Southeastern University Theatre presents Cinderella by American songwriting duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein III, with performances March 28 – April 6.
NSU Theatre’s interpretation of Cinderella is a modern and hip retelling of this classic fairy tale musical. The musical will be PG-13 in content.
The 2008 Broward Walk Now for Autism Is On – Rain or Shine!
For the fourth year in a row, Nova Southeastern University will serve as host site for the annual Broward Walk Now for Autism on April 12th. The announcement was made during the kick off luncheon on Feb. 21st held recently in Davie among a crowd of nearly 300 participants representing teams already registered to raise funds for the cause.
NSU to Induct Three Business Leaders into Entrepreneur Hall of Fame
The Nova Southeastern University H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship will induct three local business leaders – Ralph A. Marrinson, Douglas J. Von Allmen and Jordan Zimmerman – into its Entrepreneur Hall of Fame on April 16. The induction ceremony will be held at the Signature Grand in Davie beginning at 6 p.m. Attendance is by invitation only.
Lit Live! 2008 Brings Nationally Renowned Authors to NSU
LitLIVE!, one of Broward County’s most popular events of the season, will bring 20 acclaimed authors to Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Alvin Sherman Library, Research and Information Technology Center on Saturday, March 15, 2008. As part of the 20th edition of Literary Feast, LitLIVE! culminates a three-day event benefiting the Broward Public Library Foundation. NSU is the title sponsor.
Free “Passport to Information” Event to Be Held At NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library March 13
Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center presents “Passport to Information Day,” an event dedicated to educating the community on how to access research databases for personal and professional use. The event, which is open to the public, will be held March 13 in the Alvin Sherman Library at 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Boulevard.
Holocaust Survivor Reunites with his former Dentist at Nova Southeastern University
Holocaust survivor Isador Schleicher reunited with his former dentist at Nova Southeastern University’s North Miami Beach dental facility.
Schleicher, who was imprisoned at a Nazi concentration camp in Lubring, Poland during World War II, was reunited with Lawrence “Bud” Krasne, D.D.S., who is the pre Clinical Director of NSU’s College of Dental Medicine’s North Miami Beach Dental facility. Krasne originally treated Schleicher when the Holocaust survivor arrived in South Florida in 1960.
