FREE Fun Continues All Summer Long at NSU’s Library
Have a blast this summer without spending a dime by making NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library your one-stop shop for fun activities for all ages. For the ninth year in a row, FREE programming for youth, teens and adults will last now through Aug. 7 at the only library open on Sundays in Broward County.
Check out the Special Saturday family-oriented activities:
Sat. July 31 – Bobby the Balloon Guy’s Zany Balloon Show: Laugh at the hilarious antics of Bobby the Balloon Guy. All ages with caregiver, 2 to 3 p.m.
Sat. Aug. 7 – Mr. Brian and the Boppets: Sing and dance at Mr. Brian’s rock and roll puppet concert. All ages with caregiver, 2 to 3 p.m.
Ongoing activities throughout the summer also include:
- Totally Tweens Every Tuesday: Read and get creative with activities, crafts and games just for tweens. Ages 9-12, from 2 to 3 p.m.
- Lunch Bunch Every Wednesday: Bring and eat your lunch while listening to stories and music, creating crafts, playing games and more. Ages 7 and older, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
- Silly Stories with The Shermanettes Every Thursday: Be creative with the Shermanettes, winners of the South Florida Parenting Kids Crown Award. Explore art, music, literature and puppetry with silly stories and songs. All ages with caregiver, from 10:30 to 11:30a.m.
- Monthly Beach Blanket Movie Sundays: Bring a blanket or beach chair to the art gallery and enjoy favorite family films on a big screen one Sunday each month. Call 954-262-5477 for movie titles. Shows are from 2 to 3:30 p.m. All ages with caregiver.
- Creativity Corner Every Day: Drop in to color, create and decorate the library. All ages with caregiver.
While at the library, don’t forget to avoid rental fees by stocking up on free check-outs of the latest Blu-Ray disks, DVDs and video games. Teens can also earn service hours by volunteering over the summer.
