Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Associate Professor Publishes Textbook on Family Therapy
Michael Reiter, Ph.D., associate professor at the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, published Case Conceptualization in Family Therapy (Pearson) in paperback on Feb. 14. E-book versions are also available for the Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble NOOK.
Reiter’s textbook focuses on a single case family, exploring how nine different family-therapy models understand the process of problem formation and problem resolution. A mock transcript of the family is presented in each theory chapter, in order to provide the reader an opportunity to compare and contrast how therapists working from different approaches might work with the same family.
The book has already garnered a positive response from readers. One Amazon reviewer wrote, “As a practicing therapist, I have found this text to be one of the most useful in my collection.”
At Nova Southeastern University, Reiter teaches a variety of psychology courses on subjects such as therapy, therapeutic interviewing, and family process. His areas of academic focus include solution-focused therapy, case conceptualization, and systemic family therapy. He is also the author of Therapeutic Interviewing: Essential Skills and Contexts of Counseling (Pearson), released in 2007.
