Energy & Auto Industry Executives Unveil 2013 Prius and Speak to Full House at NSU

Speaking to a standing-room-only group that included members of the NSU community and business leaders,  several South Florida energy and automobile executives addressed the rising need for new and better energy policies and increased investment in clean technologies. The event, Energy and Autos, was held on Friday, Feb. 10 in the Miniaci Center in conjunction with AutoNation, Inc., Toyota, JM Family Enterprises and the Sun-Sentinel.

Panelists included executives from AutoNation, Inc., Florida Power & Light and Toyota North America. In the courtyard in front of the theater, the complete Toyota Prius line including the new 2013 Prius C.

“Energy challenges will drive many business decisions.  It’s necessary for us, students and especially graduates who will be working with future leaders to understand why these decisions are made,” said Mike Jackson, Chairman & CEO, AutoNation, Inc. “Bob Carter and Toyota have been and will continue to be at the forefront of new technologies. Forums like this are important conversation for future business leaders to have. The Huizenga Business School is the right environment for these types of discussions.”

Earlier in the morning in a live broadcast on the popular CNBC show “Squawk Talk,” H. Wayne Huizenga, Huizenga Holdings CEO; Mike Jackson, AutoNation CEO, and Bob Carter, VP with Toyota North America discussed the auto industry’s innovation in energy efficiency and whether consumers are ready for more fuel-efficient cars.
