Anthony DeNapoli Named Executive Director of NSU’s New Office of International Affairs

NSU Chancellor Ray Ferrero, Jr., J.D., has named Anthony J. DeNapoli, Ed.D., as Executive Director of NSU’s newly created Office of International Affairs.

In his role, DeNapoli will be responsible for this newly-created office, and for coordinating and facilitating existing and new international programs, affiliations and initiatives among NSU’s schools, colleges and centers. He will provide innovative strategic vision and leadership for the Office of International Affairs, allowing it to serve as a catalyst for the growth of NSU’s global programs.

“Dr. DeNapoli has already been an instrumental part of NSU’s remarkable international growth,” Ferrero said. “We are confident that in this role, he will be empowered to take NSU’s international presence a step further and continue to provide excellent service to our on-campus and distance students from around the world.”

The newly-created Office of International Affairs will be a part of NSU’s Enrollment and Student Services, and will include the existing Office of International Students and Scholars, as well as the Language Institute at NSU. Under DeNapoli’s direction, the Office of International Affairs will also coordinate and expand existing services for on-campus and online international students, as well as for those who are taking NSU degree and non-degree certificate programs in various countries throughout the world.

Prior to this appointment, DeNapoli served as the Dean of International Affairs for NSU’s Fischler School of Education and Human Services. During his tenure in that position, he was involved in growing NSU’s international partnerships from just Panama, Jamaica and the Bahamas to at least 18 additional countries ranging from Italy to Malaysia. Now, NSU faculty and students are engaged in projects in more than 54 countries, with more than 2,200 students from 106 nations taking NSU classes at the Fort Lauderdale-Davie main campus or in cluster cohorts in their home countries.

DeNapoli started in his new role at NSU on Aug. 18, 2010. In addition to his appointment, Alejandra Parra, former Associate Dean of international Affairs at NSU’s Fischler School of Education, will also join DeNapoli in the Office of International Affairs as Associate Director of International Affairs.
