Second AcademicFest Highlights Fischler School of Education and Human Services

(Photo caption: H. Wells Singleton, Ph.D., education provost and university dean of Fischler School of Education and Human Services, looks on as NSU President George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D., stops by a booth during AcademicFest.)

The Fischler School of Education and Human Services recently hosted the university’s second AcademicFest at the Don Taft University Center. More than 400 members of NSU’s faculty and staff attended the event to learn about the programs offered at the Fischler School.

Fischler School representatives presented 34 exhibits including: academic programs such as Organizational Leadership, Higher Educational Leadership, and Educational Leadership; on-going research and community involvement in Haiti; Emergent Technologies; Reading and Digital storytelling; Speech Language Pathology and assistive speech technologies; Instructor Profile Systems (IPS); the Fischler Information Network; Teacher Imaginarium; Title V; QED and Simulation Learning; Interdisciplinary Arts performances; Phi Gamma Sigma Idea Works; and many other programs, all designed to increase your NSU IQ.

The concept of AcademicFest originated from the university’s Communications Task Force, feedback from the Gallup Surveys, and the Chancellor’s Town Hall meetings. Results from each revealed that NSU’s faculty and staff desired to learn more about the various centers within the university.

In addition to the academic presentations, attendees were treated to lunch and had the opportunity to register for door prizes by visiting each of the Fischler “zones” represented at the AcademicFest:

  • Academics/Grant Research
  • Support Services
  • Community
  • Organization

Lunch and several prizes were provided by Frank DePiano, Ph.D., university provost and executive VP for Academic Affairs. Additional prizes were also provided by the Fischler School.
