Your Voice is Important – Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a Personal Video, Deadline Oct. 12

The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month through an oral/video project to capture stories and reflections of members of the NSU community who are of Hispanic descent.

In 1-3 minute interviews, Hispanic Sharks (students, faculty, and staff) will provide the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Affiliation with NSU (student, faculty, staff)
    • Students – please indicate if you are undergraduate, graduate or professional
    • Faculty or Staff – please indicate your college or department
  • Answer two questions:
    • What does your Hispanic heritage mean to you?
    • In what ways do you see your Hispanic heritage expressed in your daily life?

You can record yourself or have someone else record you.

If you prefer to record yourself:

  • Record all videos horizontally, aka holding your phone “sideways.”
  • If you are holding the phone yourself, you should first check that your face appears fully in frame before recording.
  • Don’t use any special filters or effects (i.e., black and white), just a regular recording.
  • Before recording, check the immediate background to ensure that things you wouldn’t want to be in the video is on screen (personal documents, identifying information, etc).
  • Email your video to cguanche@nova.edu.

Videos will be accepted through October 12.

If you want someone to record you:

If you are on NSU’s main campus and prefer to have someone else record you, please come to the Maltz Building, room 2025A (second floor conference room next to Dean Yang’s office) between 12-1:00 pm on one of the following dates: Sept. 24, Sept. 25, Sept. 28, or Oct. 1.

Videos will be shared via CAHSS social media platforms September 24 – October 12, as well as uploaded to a webpage on NSU’s Inclusion and Diversity website.
