Women’s Soccer Earns Big Overtime Win at Eckerd, 2-1

The NSU women’s soccer team (5-8-1, 1-5-1 SSC) topped the Eckerd Tritons (7-7-0, 1-4-0 SSC) Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the Turley Athletic Complex, 2-1, in overtime. The win marks the first for the Sharks in conference play.

Dilja Olafsdottir (Sr., Reykjavik, Iceland) ended the game in the first overtime period at the 96 minute mark. Kelsey McCusker (Jr., Stone Harbor, N.J.) played a ball into the box from a free kick, leaving the ball up for grabs. Stephanie Moench (So., Austin, Texas) came down with the ball and ripped a shot past the goalkeeper that deflected off the post and found its way to the foot of Olafsdottir, who put the ball in the back of the net. The goal keeps the Sharks’ postseason hopes alive with two conference matches left to play. Complete Release
