Women’s Golf Team and Coaches Volunteer at Feeding South Florida
The Nova Southeastern University women’s golf team recently took time out of their busy weekend schedules to volunteer at Feeding South Florida.
The seven-member squad and two coaches assisted among a large group of volunteers in feeding those in the community in need of food assistance. Feeding South Florida rescues food from big box retailers, and the team spent hours at the food bank inspecting, sorting and repacking over 40,000 pounds of food, that will go to feed nearly 25,000 people.
“We used teamwork skills to work together with others in the community,” said assistant coach Elise Swartout-Mosher. “We also learned how big of an impact volunteering for just four hours can benefit so many individuals. This was a great experience!”
“It was astonishing to learn how many people go hungry in South Florida every day,” added head coach Amanda Brown. “We were all very happy to help Feeding South Florida and were impressed by the work they do every day to help feed those who need it. We look forward to helping them again in the future!”
