Women’s Golf Team Wins Record-Breaking Sixth PKB Invitational
The Nova Southeastern University women’s golf team earned their first victory of the season following the final round of the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitation on Tuesday, March 1, winning by 14 strokes to notch an event-record sixth win for the school.
The Sharks had entered the 2016 PKB tied with host Rollins for five wins, the most all-time, and now hold the record outright. Their 885 team total ties the record for the lowest 54-hole score in the 40-year history of the tournament.
NSU sophomore Jamie Freedman (Miami Beach, Fla.) had the tournament’s only round under 70, with a 3-under 69 Tuesday, Mar. 1 , to tie teammate Aldana Foigel (Fr., Plottier, Argentina) for second place among all individuals. Freedman went 74-77-69; Foigel was 73-75-72.
Next, in 15th, was sophomore Michelle Ruiz (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) at 225, while Sophie Madden (Fr., Essex, England) and Mailen Domecq Chantry (So., Mar del Plata, Argentina) each carded a total of 227. In addition, Katrina Wang (Jr., Shenzhen, China), playing as an individual, shot a 232.
