New Whistler Exhibit at NSU’s Library Explores Artist and Printmaking

Enjoy original artwork created by James McNeill Whistler and those he influenced at the new exhibit in the Second Floor Gallery at NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library.

The exhibit, The Defining Line: Whistler and Friends as Printmakers, is open now through June 13. It features a collection of original etchings and lithographs by the nineteenth century American artist, along with a selection of works by artists that he influenced.

On loan from the private collection of Albert E. Kalson, Professor Emeritus of Purdue University, this is the first time that the exhibit has been displayed for the public.

The exhibit is FREE and open to the public during the following hours:

  • Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

As part of the exhibit, there will also be a special presentation on “How Etchings are Made” on May 22 at 2 p.m.
