Three Nova Southeastern women’s golfers were recognized as NCAA All-American Scholars by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association, as announced on Wednesday, July 16.

Senior Rachel Lewis (Cardiff, Wales) and freshmen Alejandra Velasco (Jalisco, Mexico) and Katrina Wang (Shenzhen, China) were honored among a total of 664 golfers from Divisions I, II and III by the WGCA. Among other stringent criteria for selection is a minimum GPA of 3.50.

“They have been able to balance the demands of academics and athletics, and this award is reserved for those who do it best,” said women’s golf head coach Amanda Brown of the three players. “I congratulate them for their well-rounded success, which will continue to help them in all areas of life.”

The trio joins two women’s cross country runners (Peri Bowman and Alexandria Palm) and five rowers (Stephanie Hauck, Amanda Hudon, Kelsey Obringer, Adrianna Rosario and Tori Torrisi) as NCAA Scholar All-Americans in 2013-14.

A total of 20 student-athletes from within the Sunshine State Conference were honored on Wednesday. Lynn led the conference with five, three each came from NSU, Barry, Florida Southern and Florida Tech, two from Rollins and one from Saint Leo.
