This Week in Shark Athletics

The Sharks are travelling all across Florida this January hoping to return home victorious. But, not all the action will take place on the road. Look forward to some killer basketball games at the end of January. It’s all here, this week in Shark Athletics.

Swimming and Diving:
The Swimming and Diving teams head to Miami on Jan. 29 to take on Division I teams from Florida International and Florida Atlantic at 11 a.m. for its last regular season meet. This marks the third tri-meet the Sharks men have participated in this year, splitting the first two. Most recently, the men knocked off Carleton and Kalamazoo at 155.5-49.5 and 127-78. The women lost their only tri-meet this season, falling to Carleton and Kalamazoo 102-100 and 103-97.

Women’s Basketball:
The NSU women’s basketball team continues league play on Jan. 26 as they travel to Florida Southern in Lakeland to clash with the Mocs at 5:30 p.m. The Sharks lead the all-time series against the Mocs, 11-10. NSU lost both games against FSC last season, but took them to overtime in Lakeland, eventually falling, 99-93. NSU takes the hardwood three days later on Jan. 29 as they welcome Rollins College to the NSU Arena at 2 p.m. Rollins holds the all-time series record winning 17-of-22 games. The Sharks fell to the Tars earlier in the season, 87-61, for its first SSC loss of the season.

Men’s Basketball:
On Jan. 19, the men’s basketball team collides on the hardwood for its fifth league game of this year’s campaign in Boca Raton. Then they hit the road to Lakeland to begin a week of conference play. First, they face the Florida Southern Mocs on Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m. The Mocs lead the all-time series against the Sharks, 15-4. Last season, the Sharks fell to FSC twice, with a 90-82 loss on the road. Three days later on Jan. 29, the Sharks host Rollins College and will look to redeem themselves. In its fifth game of this season, NSU stumbled in a 78-66 loss to the Tars in its first SSC matchup of the year. Rollins leads the Sharks in the all-time series, 27-8.
