This Week in Shark Athletics

Men’s Golf
The men’s golf team will be competing at the Sunshine State Conference Championship on Apr. 18 – 19 in Boca Raton, Fla. The championships will be hosted by Lynn University with tee times scheduled for 8 a.m. Last season, the Sharks finished in third place overall while NSU shot a 15-under 858 as the tournament host at the Grande Oaks Golf Club.

Women’s Golf
The women’s golf team will be defending their national title at the Sunshine State Conference Championships in Boca Raton, Fla. on Apr. 18 – 19. The championships will be hosted by Lynn University with tee times set for 8 a.m. Last season, NSU won the Sunshine State Conference Golf Tournament by 21 strokes over Florida Southern, hosted by NSU at Grande Oaks Golf Club. NSU, the defending NCAA Division II National Champions, had four golfers finish among the top five positions.

Baseball
NSU’s baseball team opens up this week traveling to Barry for a non-conference game on Apr. 19 in Miami Shores, Fla. at 6 p.m. The Sharks defeated the Buccaneers on Feb. 8, 9-7, in Miami Shores, Fla., but trail in the all-time series 38-25-1. The Sharks take two days off before hosting Palm Beach Atlantic in a three-game conference series on Friday, Apr. 22 and Saturday, Apr. 23. On Friday the single game is set for 6 p.m. while Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. The Sharks lost to PBA twice this season, but lead the all-time series 44-15-1 over the Sailfish.

Softball
NSU’s softball team opens the week on Apr. 19 when they travel to Miami Gardens, Fla. to play St. Thomas in a single game. The Sharks defeated the Bobcats in both games of their opening doubleheader on Feb.8 by virtue of 5-4 and 2-0 victories. NSU enters the game with a 38-7-0 all-time series edge over St. Thomas. The Sharks take a day off before they host the Lynn Fighting Knights in a conference matchup on Apr. 21 and 22 at the AD Griffin Sports Complex. NSU defeated Lynn at the Eckerd Triton Collegiate Invitational on Feb. 27, 11-3, in six innings. The Sharks own a 28-21-1 all-time series edge over the Tritons.

Track and Field
The men’s and women’s track and field team head to the South Region Championships in Huntsville, Ala. on Apr. 23. Last season, the men finished in 10th place out of 13 teams while the women finished in a tie for fifth place out of 13 teams.

Women’s Rowing
The women’s rowing team competes at the Sunshine State Conference Championships on Apr. 23 in Fellsmere, Fla. Last season, the Sharks finished in third place overall while the Varsity-4 boat won its fifth consecutive SSC title.
