This Week in Shark Athletics

Baseball
NSU’s baseball team spends this week on the road. The Sharks begin the week heading to Winter Park, Fla. for a conference meeting with the Rollins College (RC) Tars on Saturday, Mar. 26 and Sunday, Mar. 27 in a three-game series.  NSU defeated RC in all three games last season to take the all-time series edge, 18-17.

The Sharks take a day off before facing Palm Beach Atlantic in West Palm Beach on Mar. 29 at 6 p.m. Although owning a strong, 42-11-1, edge over the Sailfish, the Sharks have struggled in recent meetings, falling in four of the past six games. The Sharks fell to the Sailfish earlier this year, 3-2, at the NSU Baseball Complex on Feb. 9. NSU rounds out the week in St. Petersburg, Fla. for a three-game league series against Eckerd beginning on Apr. 1. The Sharks won all three games against the Tritons last season which raised the all-time series advantage to 33-10.

Softball
NSU’s softball team will play in two, three-game conference series on the road this week, beginning with Florida Tech in Melbourne on Tuesday, Mar. 29 and Wednesday Mar. 30. The first game will begin at 3 p.m. on Tuesday with the doubleheader scheduled to begin on Wednesday at 1 p.m. The Sharks round out the week in a three-game league series with Barry University (BU) in Miami on Friday, Apr. 1 and Saturday, Apr. 2. On Friday the games first pitch is scheduled to be at 6 p.m. while on Saturday the doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. The Sharks own a 26-4 record against the Barry Buccaneers, while winning two-of-three games against BU last season.

Women’s Golf
The women’s golf team heads to Seaside, Calif. to compete in the Lady Otter Spring Invitational which hosted by Cal State-Monterey Bay on Mar. 28 and 29. The Sharks have won four of the seven tournaments they have competed in this year, while winning both this spring. This marks the first time NSU will participate in this Invitational.

Women’s Tennis
The women’s tennis team will face Lynn on April 1 in a conference match at the NSU Tennis Complex at 2 p.m. The Sharks have never defeated the Fighting Knights, trailing the all-time series, 10-0. Last season, NSU fell to Lynn, 8-0, in Boca Raton.

Track and Field
The men’s and women’s track and field teams will be competing in the Florida Relays on Apr. 1 and 2. Races are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on both days. Last season, NSU broke three records during the meet.

Rowing
The rowing team heads south to compete in the 3rd Annual Barry Dual on Apr. 2 at 8 a.m. The Sharks split with Barry last season, winning the Varsity-8 race, but falling in the Varsity-4.
