NSU Sprinter Talyn Washington goes head-to-head with Olympian Dix
NSU sprinter Talyn Washington (Sr., Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) competed in the 200-meter dash this past weekend against former United States Track and Field Olympian Walter Dix, finishing just over a half second off to former silver medalist.
Washington finished ahead of all collegiate runners in the event, finishing with a time of 21.02. Dix clocked in ahead of him at 20.41. Dix, a Florida State alum, was a bronze and silver medalist at the 2008 Summer Olympics. He was only defeated by Usain Bolt, who broke the 200 world record in victory.
Washington’s impressive showing would have put him No. 1 in NCAA Division II and 24th in Division I had his time counted towards indoor track and field. Washington and the Sharks will next compete at the USF Invitational on March 12, the first opportunity for NSU to qualify for Nationals.
