View Works by Award-Winning Fiber Artist in New Exhibition, Ends March 1
The NSU community is invited to view works by local artist Martin Casuso, featured in the latest on-campus exhibition hosted by the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.
Martin Eduardo Casuso | Exhibition Series
Jan. 29–Mar. 1
Opening Reception: Tuesday, Jan. 29 | 5:30–7:30 p.m.
Gallery 217 | Don Taft University Center
With origins in mainstream handiwork, Casuso’s contemporary fiber and mixed-media work involves the deliberate shift from the decorative application of home-based crafts to one of greater personal meaning, according to the artist.
Among his influences, Casuso says, is “the series Unusual Occupations, a 1930s program of short subject films that spotlighted peripheral characters who fashioned odd objects from refuse or materials of little value.”
Admission to the Martin Eduardo Casuso exhibition at NSU is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required for entry. For more information and gallery hours, call (954) 262-7620.
