NSU’s Shepard Broad Law Center’s hosted the first event at its Veterans Law Clinic on Saturday June 15, entitled, “Removing Legal Barriers to Employment.”  Nineteen veterans received one-on-one legal consultation regarding the removal of employment barriers and were offered advice on how to overcome the same. Some clients will receive follow-up services through the Veterans Law Clinic. The veterans that received legal assistance at the workshop will be able to confidently move forward towards stable employment thanks to Law Center students and staff attorneys.

“The legal workshop was a great success thanks to the eleven phenomenal Pro Bono Honor Law Students who dedicated 5.5 hours each to provide direct legal services to veteran clients,” said Jayme Cassidy, staff attorney for the Veterans Law Clinic. “Based upon the extraordinary response from the Pro Bono Honor Law Students I know this will be the first of many successful projects that the NSU Veterans Law Clinic will facilitate.”

Sharon Booth, director of public interest programs & disability services, assisted with coordination of the Pro Bono Honor Law Students. The following students dedicated their time to help our local heroes:
