Vatican Splendors Lecture and Performance Series at Museum Of Art | Fort Lauderdale

PNC Bank and AutoNation are presenting a Lecture and Performance Series in conjunction with the widely-acclaimed exhibition Vatican Splendors: A Journey through Faith and Art, at Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale during April. The series explores various artistic and cultural aspects of the exhibition, one of the largest collections of art, documents and historically significant objects from the Vatican ever to tour North America.

Lectures and performances are scheduled both mid-day and evenings:

Daytime events are 11 a.m. until noon

Wednesday, Apr. 13                      Broward College’s Dr. Karen Roberts Discusses Art Through the Ages

Art from the Byzantine Age through the Renaissance is examined in this informative slide lecture by Dr. Karen Roberts, Senior Professor of Visual and Performing Arts at Broward College.

Noon – 1 p.m.  event is followed by

An optional light lunch and convivial conversation with fellow art lovers in the Marks Gallery from noon-1 p.m. This event is provided at an additional charge of $20 for members and non-members.  RSVP required to Maria Brandwein at (561) 394-8004 or mcb118@earthlink.net.

Evening events are from 6 until 7 p.m.

 Thursday, April 7                              Cultural Influences of the Vatican

Nova Southeastern University’s  Jamie Manburg leads a panel discussion on the topic of the cultural influences of the Vatican.

7 – 8 p.m. each evening event is followed by

An optional reception featuring light fare, fine wines, and convivial conversation in the Marks Gallery with fellow art lovers from 7-8 p.m. This event is provided at an additional charge of $20 for members and non-members.  RSVP required to Maria Brandwein at (561) 394-8004 or mcb118@earthlink.net.

Vatican Splendors will be on view at Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale through April 24. The renowned exhibition is presented by Holy Cross Hospital, in association with PNC Bank and AutoNation.

The cost per lecture or performance is $10 for Museum members and $15 for non-Members.


Single Vatican Splendors tickets, which include general admission to the Museum, are priced at $20 for adults, $17 for seniors, and $13 for children, and are available now. Single tickets for Vatican Splendors can be purchased at www.vaticansplendors.com, or at the Museum Box Office, or online at www.ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 1-877-2VATICAN (1-877-282-8422).
