University School of NSU congratulates its National Merit Scholarship Program semi-finalists and Silver Knight nominees.

To be considered for a National Merit Scholarship award, semi-finalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition. About 90 percent of the semi-finalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and approximately half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.

2011 University School semi-finalists include: Zachary Coleman, Jared Corak, Diandra Dachille, Max Feinstein, Ross Guilder, Neil Kumar, Noah Lubin, Richard Nally, Brian Oldak, Jessica Peck, Jake Sharaf, Stephanie Sharaf, Jaime Wender, and Joshua Zimmer.

Several University School students have also been nominated for 2011 Miami Herald Silver Knight Awards. Among the major factors considered to win these awards are: the consistency and lasting impact of service provided, service initiated, and academics.

Nominated University School students and their categories include: Diego Espinoza (Athletics), David Roberts (Drama), Noah Lubin (General Scholarship), Benjamin Roberts (Mathematics), Tyler Laurence (Music), Neil Kumar (Science), Ross Guilder (Social Science), and Danielle Poreh (World Language).

The identities of the 30 Silver Knights (15 from Miami-Dade County and 15 from Broward County), along with 90 Honorable Mentions (45 in Miami-Dade County and 45 in Broward County) will be revealed at the ceremony on May 18, 2011 at the James L. Knight Center.
