University School Student Shines in Creative Writing Contest
Congratulations to Avah Dickinson, sixth grade student, for winning second place in the Middle School Division of the Jewish Museum of Florida’s statewide creative writing contest. Her poem, “Malala Yousafzai” will complement the exhibit, From a Coin Toss into Politics: The Life of a Senator, on view from September 16, 2014 to March 22, 2015.
Entries focused on examples of how leadership is used to affect positive actions and/or changes. The statewide responses covered a range of personal, family, community, international, and historical individuals. Students wrote about the qualities of a leader and reflected on a time when someone they know or admire displayed these qualities. Entries could be in the form of poems, personal narratives, or essays.
