UM-NSU Center for Autism and Related Disabilities Hosts Soccer Clinic for Children
As part of Project CHOICE (Creating Healthy Opportunities for Interaction, Communication and Engagement), the University of Miami and Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (UM-NSU CARD) collaborated with the Tire Choice and the Fort Lauderdale Strikers soccer team in creating a series of soccer clinics for children and teens with autism spectrum disorder, and their siblings, ages 4-15. The soccer clinics took place on March 22 and March 29 at Lockhart Stadium. There were 25 children and teens who participated in this series of soccer clinics, with volunteers from the University of Miami Department of Psychology, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, the Tire Choice, and CARD staff members.
This was a wonderful event for the children and teens participating, and their families. We want to thank the Tire Choice for generously sponsoring these soccer clinics, as well as the players and coaches of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers for volunteering their time. We are looking forward to hopefully running more soccer clinics in the future. Stay tuned for details!
