Lecture Series to Shed Light on Solar Energy, Nov. 29
The final talk of the Fall 2011 semester in the Climate-Sustainability Lecture Series, hosted by the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Division of Math, Science, and Technology, will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 29, from noon to 1:00 p.m., in the Carl DeSantis Building, room 1048/1049.
Two faculty members from the college, Reza Razeghifard, Ph.D., associate professor, and Bryan Armentrout, Ph.D., assistant professor, will present a talk titled “Solar Energy (Part I) Natural and Artificial Photosynthesis (Part II) Technologies and Policies”.
Presentation Abstract
Solar energy is an unlimited renewable source of energy and, therefore, an excellent substitute for fossil fuels. In the first part of this talk, Razeghifard will discuss topics related to solar energy that are captured by natural and artificial photosynthetic systems. Armentrout will then talk about major solar-energy technologies and their current usages, as well as the feasibility and policy implications of increased, future solar-energy production.
The Climate-Sustainability Lecture Series aims to increase the understanding of the science, technology, and policies relating to climate change and sustainable development. Experts in related fields from within NSU and other institutions are featured speakers.
