Ryan Jerothe and Johniqua Stafford

Two Nova Southeastern men’s and women’s track & field athletes, Ryan Jerothe and Johniqua Stafford have been selected as Peach Belt Athletes of the week announced by the conference office, March 19.

Jerothe set a new personal record and reached an NCAA Provisional height with his 4.75m (15′ 7″) pole vault at the Miami Hurricane Invitational.  Jerothe finished third overall in the event behind jumpers from Virginia Tech.  His jump is tied for the fifth-highest in the nation so far this season.  The sophomore from New Port Richey, Fla., also competed in the javelin, placing fifth.

Stafford provisionally qualified in both the 100 and 200 meter in the first two weeks of the 2013 season.  The senior from Fort Worth, Texas, finished fourth in the 200 in 24.57 seconds at the USF Open on March 8th and finished seventh overall in the 100 at the Miami Hurricane Invitational with a time of 12.02.  Stafford also ran on the 4×400 relay team that finished fourth of seven teams at the Hurricane and on the 4×100 relay team that was fifth of nine teams in a time of 46.81, an NCAA provisional mark.
