Nova Southeastern University men’s and women’s track and field team claimed three Athlete of the Week awards after their first week of official competition, as it was announced by the Peach Belt Conference office on Tuesday, March 15.

Freshman Anabel Knoll was honored as the first Peach Belt Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week of 2016 for her outstanding performance at the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on March 11. Knoll finished first place overall in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 38:04.26 also breaking the institutional record in this competition.

Junior field athlete Shakira Bartley obtained the Peach Belt Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week award for her record-breaking performance in the triple jump at the USF Invitational on March 12. Bartley set a new NSU record in the event with a mark of 11.94 meters, which also makes her a provisional qualifier for the NCAA National Championship.

Sophomore track athlete Eric Moate received the Peach Belt Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week award for his impressive speed in the 100 meter dash at the USF Invitational last Saturday. Moate claimed first place with a NCAA National Championship provisional qualifying time of 10.58.

NSU will host the Shark Invitational, track and field’s first ever home meet, on Wednesday, March 16 beginning at 8:15 a.m. at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Florida.
