Five tips for a greener office space
Use your own coffee mug and utensils: Styrofoam coffee cups and plastic utensils are not recyclable and take an extremely long time to biodegrade. Brew coffee at work in your own personalized mug and eat with utensils from home to cut down the waste from disposable cups and utensils.
Start a carpool: Go green before you even arrive at the office. Every commute not taken is an energy saver.
Make the most of your paper: Reuse obsolete documents and old letter heads. Cut them into squares to make functional reminders and notes.
Turn off electronics: When you’re not using them, make sure computers, monitors, printers, lights, etc. are switched off to save energy. Also, be sure to configure your computer with the most energy efficient settings.
Recycle more: make sure paper, bottles, and other waste in your office is disposed of in a proper recycle receptacle. To request a recycle bin for anywhere on campus, contact Physical Plant at 954-262-8800 or physicalplant@nova.edu.
