Thirsting to Perform on Stage? Audition for Irish Dracula Play, Jan. 9

All NSU students, faculty, and staff members are invited to audition for a part in The Irish Dracula: A Melodrama in Five Acts, written by James Doan, Ph.D., professor at the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, and produced by the Irish Theatre of Florida.
Auditions for The Irish Dracula

The Irish Dracula is based on Bram Stoker’s 19th-Century novel, but focuses on the Irish-born author’s relationship with Henry Irving, actor and director of the Lyceum Theatre in London, for whom Stoker worked as business manager more than 25 years.
Set in London and County Sligo, Ireland, in 1888, the play examines the colonial Anglo-Irish politics of the era and psychosexual elements implied in the original text. The Irish Dracula also sheds light on the development of the vampire tradition in European and American thought, though presenting a different conception of the figure.
If selected, actors should be prepared to rehearse the play through January, with two dramatic readings to follow in February. Staged performances of The Irish Dracula will take place in Delray Beach during March and in May at the Acting Irish International Theatre Festival.
