Tennis Garners No. 6 Spot in Preseason Conference Poll

 

rp_primary_IMG_0267The Nova Southeastern University tennis team was chosen sixth in the Sunshine State Conference preseason coaches’ poll, released by the league office late Friday afternoon.

The Sharks received 32 total votes, placing them just two behind Florida Southern for fifth place. Five-time defending SSC Tournament Champions Barry received eight of nine first-place votes and 64 points to nab the top spot. Lynn got the other top vote and 57 total points, with Saint Leo third at 49.

NSU, ranked preseason No. 35 in the ITA poll, has a roster of 11 players that will begin the spring season at home this upcoming Thursday, Feb. 5. They will take on the St. Thomas Bobcats at the NSU Tennis Center starting at 3 p.m. That nationwide ranking also places the team sixth amongst SSC teams, and in the region iteration of those rankings, they are ninth in the South (with seven SSC squads in the top 10).
