Nova Southeastern University swimming and diving will send six men and six women to the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships on March 9-12 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“Most of the athletes from NSU that have been selected for the NCAA Championships are veterans to the meet,” said head coach Hollie Bonewit-Cron. “Their experience not only helps them achieve even greater success from previous years, but also helps the newcomers follow great leadership.”

While 22 Sharks put up NCAA Division II B qualifying times this season, only 12 officially made the cut to compete at the championship. The men will be represented by Marco Aldabe, Anton Lobanov, Thiago Sickert, Victor Tarin, David Van Der Colff and Blake Woodrow. The women attending are Courtney DeVeny, Caroline Oster, Sydney Panzarino, Jordan Shows, Emma Wahlstrom and Malin Westman.

“These athletes will receive the additional rest and preparation they need so that the entire team traveling to the championships is ready to compete against the toughest competitors in Division II,” continued Bonewit-Cron. “Having recently competed in the SSC Championships with so many talented athletes from around the country, the Sharks are excited for what’s to come in Indianapolis.”

In order to qualify to compete at the national championship, student-athletes are required to meet NCAA Standard-A or NCAA Standard-B times during the season in their respective event(s). All swimmers who post an A-cut automatically qualify while the rest of the field is made up of the best B-cut times. At the end of the meet, the team with the highest combined point total will be crowned the overall 2016 NCAA Division II National Champions.
