Student-Athletes Recognized for Academic Achievement

Numerous NSU student-athletes received the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award. A total of 24 student-athletes were recognized for having a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

The NSU Athletics Department has received multiple awards during the 2009-10 academic year. In the fall, NSU was recognized as one of 97 colleges in the country in which both the men’s and women’s soccer teams had a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. In the spring, the Sharks placed 59 student athletes on the Sunshine State Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Ninety-two institutions submitted nominees for the 2009-10 Academic Achievement Awards, while a total of 3,022 student-athletes are being recognized this year.

“We want to thank and congratulate those colleges and universities that took part in honoring student-athletes,” stated Division II ADA President Greg Waggoner, director of athletics at Western State College of Colorado. “We look forward to continued participation in the future and wish everyone the best of luck during the upcoming year.”
