Student Receives Graduate Scholar Award and Presents at the 4th International Conference on Health Wellness and Society

Marcia Roberts Brown, M.D.

Marcia Roberts Brown, M.D., student in the Master of Arts Cross-Disciplinary Studies (MACS) program in the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies (DMS) in NSU’s Graduate School received the Graduate Scholar Award at the Fourth International Conference on Health, Wellness and Society. The conference was hosted by the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada. She also presented a workshop entitled, “Living your Design: The CHIL Model for Transforming Trauma.” Brown credits her mentor, Richard Toumey, M.F.A., adjunct instructor in DMS, as the inspiration and co-designer of the CHIL model. Her trip was sponsored by the Professional Development Grant through PanSGA. Brown has been the MACS representative to the SHSS SGA.

Brown earned her bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from Florida International University, her medical degree from St. Christopher’s IMD College of Medicine in Dakar, Senegal, and was a Senior Fellow at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Anesthesiology and Pain Management.
