Angela Schukei, a student enrolled in the Sport and Recreation Management program, answered the call last spring when the Palm Beach Cardinals asked for a volunteer. She worked in Jupiter throughout the summer to assist the Cardinals and the Jupiter Hammerheads (Marlins affiliate) with coordinating in-game promotions such as the Kids Club, prize wheel and launch-a-ball.

During her time there, Angela applied for the Florida State League Scholarship, which is partially funded by the Marlins, and was selected to receive one of twelve $1,000 scholarships. She was recently honored before a game in Jupiter and threw out an honorary first pitch. In addition, she was recognized along with other scholarship winners before the Marlins vs. Giants game on Sunday, August 14.
