Sixth Annual Shark Invitational Completes 2015-16 Swimming and Diving Schedule
Head coach Hollie Bonewit-Cron has finalized the 2015-16 men’s and women’s swimming and diving schedule with the inclusion of the 2015 Shark Invitational, the team’s annual four-day event at the NSU Aquatic Complex, taking place this season in early December.
The teams will take part in seven regular season meets from this point forward, with three on the road and four at home. The season will commence again on Oct. 31 at home for a women’s-only meet against border and Sunshine State Conference rival Lynn, beginning at 10 a.m. The next competition will also be on campus against Indian River State College, the following Friday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m.
The Sharks’ first dual meet on the road will be against another SSC foe in Rollins, the following day (Nov. 7) in Winter Park. Two weeks later, it’s back to the NSU Aquatic Complex when the Sharks host Tampa at 2 p.m. on Nov. 21.
The sixth annual Shark Invitational will take place beginning Wednesday, Dec. 2, continuing through Saturday, Dec. 5 against a field of top competition. The meet will be the conclusion of the 2015 calendar portion of the season, prior to NSU’s holiday break.
When the squads return, there are just two more dual meets before the postseason begins, one home, one away. First will be the Sharks vs. Limestone on Jan. 6, 2016, a Wednesday at 3 p.m. at home, before the regular season wrap-up on Jan. 9, the Saturday following, in Lakeland against Florida Southern.
This year’s SSC Championship will take place in Orlando for the third straight year at the YMCA Aquatic Center, Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 18-21. A last-chance meet is scheduled to be held at the NSU Aquatic Complex on Sunday, Feb. 22, with NCAA qualifiers moving on to the DII Championships in Indianapolis, going from March 9-12 at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI.
