SHSS Welcomes New Faculty Member
Honggang Yang, Ph.D., dean of the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) has announced the appointment of Toran Hansen, Ph.D., to the faculty at SHSS. Hansen has been appointed as Assistant Professor of Conflict Resolution in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR).
Hansen received his doctoral degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota and holds a master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from NSU. He served as a Research Associate for the Center for Restorative Justice and Peacemaking, as well as the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs at UM. Hansen has been a Peace Corps volunteer in Guinea, West Africa, Program Director for the Fraser Youth Supervision Program in British Columbia, Canada, and a mediator in Florida and Minnesota.
Hansen’s research and teaching interests include restorative justice, social movements, social networks, and mediation.
