SHSS Welcomes New Faculty Member, Ismael Muvingi, Ph.D.
Ismael Muvingi, Ph.D
Honggang Yang, Ph.D., Dean of the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) has announced the appointment of Ismael Muvingi, Ph.D. to the faculty at SHSS. Muvingi has been appointed as Associate Professor of Conflict Resolution and African Studies in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR).
Muvingi received his doctoral degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University and holds a master’s degree in Government and International Relations and a master’s degree in Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame. Prior to joining the faculty at NSU he was a member of the faculty at Menno Simons College, which is affiliated with the University of Winnipeg in Canada. Originally from what was then the colony of Rhodesia, he has worked extensively for social justice in his homeland.
Muvingi has published a book on Oil, Diamonds and Human Rights in the Marketplace as well as scholarly articles on Zimbabwean politics and on transitional justice. His areas of research are human rights, African politics and transitional justice with a special focus on Africa.
