SHSS Welcomes New Faculty Member Cheryl Duckworth, Ph.D.

Cheryl Duckworth, Ph.D.

Honggang Yang, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) has announced the appointment of Cheryl Duckworth, Ph.D. to the faculty at SHSS. Duckworth has been appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR).

Duckworth received her doctoral degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University where she served as an adjunct professor. She has lived in Zimbabwe and Paraguay and her book on the indigenous rights movement in Paraguay will be published this fall. A focus of Duckworth’s work is also on peace education both locally and globally. Recently, she facilitated conflict resolution education with juvenile detainees at the Northern VA Juvenile Detention Home School. She is a peace-building program leader who has served such organizations as the Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy, the Center for International Education and InterAction.
