SHSS Hosts 24th Residential Institute

The Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) and the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies (DMS) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) recently hosted the 24th Residential Institute (RI) on NSU’s main campus. During RI, students enrolled in distance learning come to campus to attend classes; meet with faculty, staff, and their colleagues; attend advising sessions; and participate in workshops, presentations and social activities.

Kenneth Cloke, J.D., Ph.D.

The keynote speaker was Kenneth Cloke, J.D., Ph.D., director of the Center for Dispute Resolution in Santa Monica, California, and founder and President of Mediators Beyond Borders.

Another featured speaker was Louis Kriegsberg, Ph.D.,  Professor Emeritus of Sociology, Maxwell Professor Emeritus of Social Conflict Studies, and founding director of the Program on the Analysis and Resolution of Conflicts (1986–1994), at Syracuse University.

Dean Brad Williams, Ph.D.,  NSU Dean of Student Affairs, and his wife hosted a reception at their home for students in the College Student Affairs program. He also sponsored training by the National Coalition Building Institute.
