SHSS Faculty and Student Present on Equine Assisted Therapy at AAMFT Conference
Shelley Green, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Family Therapy (DFT) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), Robert Keever, M.S., doctoral student in the department and Lorisa Lewis, M.S., LMHC, director of Stable Foundations presented at the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy’s (AAMFT) Annual Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. The presentation was entitled: “Clinical Training: An Equine Assisted Approach.”
The presentation was related to the graduate course Green teaches for DFT in equine-assisted family therapy at the Stable Foundations in Davie. The first of its kind in a family therapy graduate program, this model has been further developed into a comprehensive training, educational, and supervision model for interns and experienced clinicians. It is an innovative partnership between SHSS and the community.
