SHSS Faculty and Student Present at Dispute Resolution Center Conference
Alexia Georgakopoulos, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) and Judith McKay, J.D., Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies (DMS) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) gave presentations at the Florida Dispute Resolution Center’s 2011 Conference in Orlando.
Georgakopoulos and DCAR doctoral candidate Rebecca Storrow gave a presentation entitled “Keeping Family Mediation Authentic and Meaningful: Metaphors, Narratives, Mindfulness, and Forgiveness Speak Volumes.” Storrow is with the American Arbitration Association and the presentation was based on her dissertation study.
McKay gave a presentation entitled: “Family Violence: New Perspectives and Approaches.” The presentation used recent research and the impact on the mediation process.
