SHSS Faculty Presents on International Transitional Justice at the University of Essex
Ismael Muvingi, Ph.D., faculty member at the Graduate School of Humanities & Social Sciences’ Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR), was part of an international transitional justice seminar held at The University of Essex, Colchester, England. The seminar, which was held during Sept. 8-9, was entitled, “Towards a Conceptualisation of the Economic and Social Dimensions of Transitional Justice.”
Scholars, human rights attorneys, UN advisors, NGO practitioners and government personnel participated in a united effort to address significant issues related to transitional justice, such as the relevant economic and social factors and how the inclusion of these factors can be achieved.
On Sept. 13, at the same venue, Muvingi presented at a workshop on transitional justice and natural resources during the Essex Transitional Justice Network Summer School. The Summer School brings practitioners and students from around the globe to Essex to discuss the issues surrounding the economic and social dimensions of transitional justice.
