SHSS Faculty Presents at International Studies Association Conference in San Francisco

Cheryl Duckworth, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) in NSU’s Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), presented at the International Studies Association (ISA) Annual Conference held in San Francisco. The theme of the conference was, “The Politics of International Diffusion: Regional and Global Dimensions.”

Duckworth’s presentation was entitled, “”Extreme Curriculum:  Experiential Learning in Morocco.” The talk was based on a global course offered last summer for SHSS during which Duckworth led a trip to Morocco with students who were enrolled in Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR), Cross-Disciplinary Studies (MACS), and the National Security Affairs (NSA) programs. The course is being offered again this summer. Duckworth was also a discussant on a panel on global development.

Duckworth is the faculty facilitator for the Peace and Conflict Education Working Group at SHSS. The group seeks to equip and empower schools worldwide to be examples and builders of peace, and to promote activities and curriculum that can help extend peace into the local communities.
